‘I’ is a pronoun which takes the place of noun which was mentioned earlier. It is used to avoid repetition of same name words in a paragraph.
For example :
My name is Gaurav, I have two cars and one bike. I always enjoy my breakfast with my children. I spend most of my time studying.
In the above paragraph ‘I’ refers to ‘Gaurav’.
