Inverted Conditionals Examples In English

Inversions are used in conditional sentences where “if” is replaced by “had”, “were” and “should”. Conversion occurs when we change the general order of a sentence, especially the verb-action method.

Inversions or Conversions are used in conditional sentences to form correct sentences.

To make a change in conditional sentences we start by leaving “if”. When we use “should”, the conditional sentence has real conditions, which means we are talking about the current option and its future effect.

To create inverted conditional sentences we start with “should” or “had” followed by the first clause, a comma (,) and the second clause.

For example:

  • “Had I known about the place, I would have never visited”
  • “Should you need to compete, contact me.”
