Accented and Unaccented Syllables Examples

A syllable that is stressed in pronunciation is called an accented syllable and a vowel or syllable that is pronounced with little or no stress is called an unaccented syllable. For instance, the word “candle” has two syllables, the first being accented (spoken louder than the second) and the second being unaccented (spoken softer than the first).
