25+ Global Environmental Issues Vocabulary

There is no denial in that our environment is continuously changing. With this change environmental issues are also increasing. Issues are increasing at an alarming rate.

So today we will learn about twenty-five issues that are being faced by earth. The issues include: Global warming, Loss of biodiversity i.e. extinction of animal species, air, water, soil, noise pollution, use of natural resources that include fossil fuels, industrial, medical, household waste, ocean acidification, genetic modification of plants, over population, ozone depletion, acid rain, habitat destruction, overfishing, littering and landfills, urban sprawl, improper waste disposal, polar ice caps, climate change, deforestation, genetic engineering and increased carbon footprint.

Global warming is the increase in overall temperature of earth due to green house effect which is caused due to increase in level of carbon dioxide. Carbon dioxide is increased in air due to several reasons that include deforestation i.e. cutting of trees, burning of fossil fuels etc. Due to climate changes polar ice is melting which results in floods.

Natural disasters are also a concern that include earthquake, cyclones and volcanic eruptions. Due to deforestation, habitats of several animals are destroyed which results in loss of biodiversity. As fossil fuels and coal are burned they release sulphur and nitrogen oxides which combine with atmospheric water and the result is acid rain. Ozone is an invisible layer of protection around the planet that protects us from harmful rays of Sun and ultraviolet radiation.

Major Global Environmental Issues and Concerns Today

Earth quake Ozone depletion Deforestation Overpopulation Urban sprawl
Global warming Acid rain Water pollution Air pollution Climate change
Green house effect Extinction Habitat destruction Waste disposal Use of natural resources
Noise pollution Ocean Acidification Over fishing Polar ice caps Carbon foot print
Medical waste Littering and landfills Genetic engineering Genetic modification  of plants House hold waste
Industrial waste    Loss of biodiversity Flood Nitrogen oxides Sulphur oxides
Ozone   Rays Atmosphere Planet Coal
Fossil fuels Urban areas Rural areas Ultraviolet radiation Grazing
Desertification Soil erosion Ecosystem Cyclones   Marine pollution
Vegetation cover Raw materials Pollutants Natural disasters Volcanic eruptions

The situation is still in our control, Let’s take a pledge that we’ll use the natural resources effectively and be a responsible human being.

We have taken a lot from earth and are exploiting it in every possible way, but now it is our time to return the favor to our mother earth and do something good to save our planet.
