Has vs Have: Difference and Use in Sentences

You might be getting confused as to when and how to use ‘has’ and ‘have’,  and what is the basic difference between has and have. So let’s clear up this confusion by studying various examples and it’s time to clear up some confusion.

Correct : He has been a good kid.

Wrong : He have been a good kid.

Correct : They have everything.

Wrong : They has everything.

When to use ‘has’ in Sentences

The word ‘Has ‘ is used with the subjects of third person singular pronouns like He, She, It or with a singular noun (like Rock, boy, girl, dog etc.).

Examples of sentences using ‘has’:

  1. He has a good sense of humor.
  2. He has to live here because of his mother.
  3. It has 2 gb ram.
  4. She has to go to the party.
  5. Maybe he has some other work to do.
  6. An elephant has four legs.
  7. A bird has a beak.

Using has to ask questions :

  1. Has he been really busy ?
  2. Who has the key?
  3. Who has broken this table ?

When to use ‘have’ in Sentences

The English word ‘have’ is used with the three types of subjects namely first person pronouns like I, we. ; second person pronouns like You and third person pronouns like They and with plurals of noun like ( fruits, roads, bags etc. ).

Examples of sentences using ‘have’:

  1. I have to wait for you.
  2. They have to do this at any cost.
  3. I have to see if I can come.
  4. We have a got a lot of work to do.
  5. I have three bags.
  6. The fruits have good nutrition value.
  7. The bags have a long belt.

Try replacing these words with one another and you’ll see that sentences will sound untidy.

For example :

Correct : You have to do this.

Wrong : You has to do this.

Example : I have seen a person who has read a good number of books.
