Winter is the coldest and chilliest season. It is characterized by freezing temperatures. The extreme winter season is experienced in the months of December, January and February. The essence of winter cannot be described in few words. It is all about wearing warm, woollen clothes and consuming hot drinks. It is the time to get wrapped in layers of clothes, to get clothe in thick jackets.
In winter children have holidays and they get time to indulge in different activities like building a snowman, snow fighting, playing ice hockey etc. People praise the ethos it brings to the nature. The mornings are completely different and are chillier. The days become shorter and nights become longer. It is the best time to see stars at night as it is thought to be the brightest time of the year.
In hilly areas winter brings with it snow, billions of snowflakes come running down on the ground, crystallizing the area. Snow is so soft and is like cotton. It covers everything and glitters. When sun begins to rise and the snow is falling obliquely against the sunlight, it is the best view. In winters whole of the family sit together in front of heater, to gain warmth, they enjoy, laugh and giggle. Quality time is spent with the family. Finger, toes and nose become numb, the frosty air whistles around our ears. Our numb limbs defrost as the light of fire heats us. The air feels fresh.
People wait for little sunshine as the weathers keeps on getting colder. Everyone goes for a walk in the sunny mornings of winter. Several hearty, toothsome winter treats are prepared in every household Asian country like India, Pakistan etc. Carrot pudding is the go to dessert during winters, as carrot is available in winters. From casseroles to macaroni and cheese, these dishes warm up the winter. The ambrosial, tangy smell spreads in the air.

Despite it’s all the beauty, this season has its downside as well. It seems like winter squeezes everything to death. The homeless people and animals as well mostly suffer because of cold weather. Most of them die shivering in the cold. Some animals go in hibernation until summer arrives again while some like birds migrate to different areas. Nonetheless, this does not take away the importance of winters.
This season brings a lot of fresh fruits including oranges. Several pretty, magical flowers bloom during this season. Winter is the gift of nature.
