Following are some basic words related to algebra with their brief definitions:
- Angle: The space between two lines or surfaces that meet, measured in degrees
- Area: The size of a surface, that you can calculate by multiplying the length by the width
- Absolute value: a real number regardless of its sign
- Additive inverse: one of a pair of numbers whose sum is zero
- Axis: axis line through a body or figure
- Binomial: a quantity expressed as a sum or difference of two terms
- Coefficient: a constant number that serves as a measure of some property
- Constant: a number representing a quantity with a fixed value
- Capacity: The amount that a container or space can hold
- Commutative Property: The numbers on which we operate can be moved or swapped from their position without making any difference to the answer
- Circumference: The distance round a circle or something circular
- Coordinates: One of the two sets of numbers and/or letters that are used for finding the position of a point on a map, graph, computer screen
- Composite: Consisting of different parts or materials
- Congruent: Having exactly the same size and shape
