Periodic Sentence Examples in English

What is a Periodic Sentence?

A periodic sentence is a sentence which is deliberately and well designed to place the main point at the end. Therefore, a periodic sentence will have its main clause or predicate as the last part.

Usually, a periodic sentence remains a busy sentence and often, the very last word in the sentence is the main point the writer wants to highlight and consider.

Periodic vs Loose Sentences

A periodic sentence often creates the most surprising disagreements and suspicions to the point of the main sentence. Reliable clauses that precede the individual clause serve to emphasize the importance of the main idea. A loose sentence, in contrast, creates a faster effect. In open sentences, the individual clause is at the beginning, followed by one or more dependent clauses.
