There are 04 types of present tense:

  • Simple present

  • Present perfect
  • Present perfect continuous

Now, let us explain the types of present tense:

  1. Simple present: The simple present is the simplest way to express in the present tense.  Now to use the simple present we don’t need always the helping verbs.

We talk about more general things that we do daily or regularly, or to state the facts as under:

But, we as well use the simple present tense to talk about the things which happens when we speak and that is called a real time:

  • Present perfect: This tense is used for sharing something which has happened before but remains relevant or important now. To use it, we always place the auxiliary have before the main verb, which shows as “have done it,” and it should be followed by the past-tense form of the main verb.
  • Mike has traveled to Paris, but she really wants to go UK.
  • I have eaten Bananas, but I have never eaten Broccoli.
  • They have lived in that house for 09 years.
  • He has taken the assignment already.
  • Present perfect continuous: This tense express actions or events that we have been doing in past and still doing at present.

To use this tense, we need to combine have and been with continuous form of verb ending “ing”. Let us see the example of this tense:
