Application of Tenses to Show the Time of Action or State.

In English Grammar, tenses are essential because tenses are used to flag what would happen and when. Tenses are an indispensable part of English Grammar. It plays a vital role in constructing meaningful sentences for readers. They are primarily categorized as Past Tense, Present Tense, Future Tense. They are basically used to show the time of any action or state of being. This is usually shown by the verb.

The endings of the verb are changed to show the change in tense – past, present and future. Tenses are also helpful in understanding when the actions are changing. You can get an explanation to know the actions or events which can be described by the verb and the time.  The term ‘tense’ is derived from the Latin word ‘tempus’ which means time. So tenses are useful in expressing the time of actions.

3 Different Types of Tense in Grammar

2. Past Tense: With this tense, you can describe the actions, moments, or events that have happened in the past.

3. Future Tense: Now let’s move ahead to work with Future Tense. It is mostly used when we plan to do something.

It will describe a continuous action that will happen in the future. In simple words, it refers to the actions that are ongoing in the future.

This tense refers to the actions that will happen in the future before any other action takes place.
