Personal Pronouns with Examples

Pronouns are those which are used instead of a noun, so as to avoid their repetitive usage which effects the readability. So personal pronouns is a category in which it’s usage is related to a particular person in a syntactical and a grammatical way that replace them accordingly. And they may possess various forms depending on the type of sentence etc. There are three forms mainly –

  1. First person – I, we, me, us
  2. Second person – you
  3. Third person – they, them, she, he, him, her

Now, the words usage is purely context dependent. Like they will dependent on other factors like gender, number of people involved and similar ones.

EXAMPLES of Personal Pronouns

  • Alaric joined as a history teacher in the university. He’ll get know the place very soon.
  • Tyler purchased a new phone. He absolutely loves it. (here it refers to the mobile)
  • Lexi wrote a novel. She hid it under the bed. (here it refers to the novel)

Furthermore, there are two categories in personal pronouns. They are subject pronouns and object pronouns.

1. Subject Pronouns

    They replace the subject in the sentence. You, he, she, I, we, they are some subject pronouns.

  • You are the most important candidate in the party.
  • We want the documents immediately.
  • They are not responsible for any damage
  • She will be responsible for further consequences.

2. Object Pronouns

    They takes the object’s position in the sentence. You, her, me, them, us are some of the object pronouns.

  • You will have to help her for the exams.
